Optiarc 7200S not being recognized

My problem is rather aggrivating. It happens when i try to install Mandriva, Gentoo, Simplymepis, Kubuntu. It get to the part where it begins loading all the dirvers of the cd or dvd then, it says it cant find my dvd drive and asks where i want to install the OS from. Mandriva asks me to find a driver for it. I think it might be because of my motherboard an XFX nforce 750a AMD SOCKET AM2+. I am not entirely sure though, anyone else ever come across this problem before? the dvd drive is SATA btw.

Sorry I don't have a complete solution for you but I can tell you exactly what you problem is and what you need to look for. Your Optiarc 7200S is SATA. Limited kernel used during install either does not have support for your SATA controller or needs to have the module loaded for it. Either figure out what kind of of SATA controller you have and load the module for it or install from a different media source such as a PATA(IDE) CD/DVD-ROM.
Hope this points you in the right direction.
