OPENSUSE 11.1 USB Wireless Issues :(

I have recently installed Suse 11.1 at a workstation at my home to practice.
I have purchased a usb wireless adapter to connect to my network when the situations that i make for myself call for some sort of network to be in place.
Something weird started to happen as i started to connect, i noticed that my connection is extremely weak.
This is strange because my router is in the next room over and is extremely strong when i am using it within Microsoft Windows.

This is the type of usb adapter i have:
NETGEAR WG111v2 Wireless 2.0 adapter

Is it possible that i may have to upgrade my drivers to support this new adapter? Does anyone have any idea why this may be happening?

Is it possible that you are connecting to some other router outside your home?

Might just be a reporting thing. Try speed test, if OK then don't worry.

i'm connecting to my network. its so weird how i connect with excellent strength when using the windows on this pc, but once i boot into the opensuse the signal is weaker.

Do you think it may be a driver issue?

Might be a reporting issue with the driver. A driver can't change reception strength. Only how it is reported.

Are there any other drivers you can try for this device? Just out of curiosity, what is the device in question?

And I would definitely try a speedtest - it may be telling you the signal strength is weak, but if it doesn't actually make your internet slower i wouldn't let it bother you.
