Question opengl problem on xorg 6.7 with ati radeon 8500

Everytime when I start an opengl app it's working wery slow. When I start for example tuxracer, it is working extremely slow. When i start tuxracer from console,a message message appears on the console:

[olkku@a193-229-230-244 olkku]$ tuxracer
Tux Racer 0.61 -- a Sunspire Studios Production
(c) 1999-2000 Jasmin F. Patry
"Tux Racer" is a trademark of Jasmin F. Patry
Tux Racer comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software,
and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions.

libGL error: failed to open DRM: Operation not permitted
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering

I am using ati radeon8500 and xorg6.7 with mandrakes default driver.

You need to install the ATI drivers from the ATI site.

After you do this, it should speed things up. I had the same problem untill i installed my ATI drivers.

What are you getting in with glxgears and fgl_glxgears?

well, i installed it (than was REALLY difficult!) and i run fglrxconfig and everything seemed to look fine, but then when i restarted X, it didn't work
the error message comes here:
getconfig.pl: version 1.0
getconfig.pl: Xorg Version : 6.7.0.0.
getconfig.pl: 23 built-in rules
getconfig.pl: file '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/getconfig/xorg.cfg' has bad signature
getconfig.pl: no rules in file 'usr/X11R6/lib/X11/getconfig/xorg.cfg'.
getconfig.pl: Evaluated 23 rules with 0 errors
getconfig.pl: weight of result is 500
New driver is "ati"
(==) Using default built-in configuration (53 lines)

Fatal server error:
Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all
framebuffer devices
Please consult the X.org Foundation support at http://wiki.X.org for help
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information

X10: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

Whats the matter?

And now the graphics is working even worse than before!

try running xorgcfg or xorgconfig (i believe that's the config commands) See if you can set it up that way.

Or wait till someone with more experience can help here. Consider this a Bump on your topic as well as some help.
