OpenGL issues on Xfree86 4.3 with Geforce FX 5700

Hey guys,

I recently reinstalled Linux, this time switching from Gentoo to Arch.

I am loving Arch currently, but I have not gotten my graphics accel working completely for some reason.

I can boot into X with my nvidia drivers, and under lsmod it says:

Code:

nvidia              2072392  8
Meaning that 8 things are using it.

However, when I try to do glxgears:

Code:

Xlib:  extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

A similar thing happens when I try to play Quake 3 Arena.. It fails to open the OpenGL module or something of the sort (I can't get an exact description because once this happens X goes caput).

I don't quite know what the problem is. I am certainly using the nvidia drivers, and the modules aren't corupt/damaged at all. Any help that leads to resolving this issue is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

Let me see your /etc/X11/XF86Config file. That's probably where the problem is.

Okay :) Here it is.

You need to uncomment Load "glx" for 3D rendering to work. You could have problems with RgbPath but just try if uncommenting glx works. Since you disable CTL+ALT+BKSP, you have to reboot the system.
