Onstream IDE 30GB Installation

Hi, I'm about to purchase a 30GB Onstream IDE Tapedrive for my SuSE 7.3 Server. Luckily I have the option of testing it before I buy.

My question is this:
If I install it into my system, what do I need to do? Which program should I use? Do I need any updates?

From what I can tell, there only seems to be one driver, ide-tape.o that deals with tape drivers, so maybe they just work on a nice universal standard.

Specifically, the UNIX command "tar" was more or less originally used to deal with tape drives.

Onstream is a special case. I have SC-50 and it requires a kernel recompile.
