Only able to access half a LaCie Extreme Disk

Configuration: FC2 with an Adaptec Firewire card.

I have a 500GB Extreme Disk (Firewire external) from LaCie.

I believe this is 2 x 250GB drives, physically, and I seem to have be able to access only one half. (Just did an ordinary format when I attached the drive.) I say this because at about 54% full according to df, I start getting "no space left on device" error messages.

How do I fix this? A non-destructive solution is very greatly preferred, as I have a large database on this thing, too large to cram onto a DVD for backup.

(First post got no replies. )

Can you back up your database onto multiple DVDs. I get the feeling that your solution is going to require you to reformat that drive.
