Once again DVD playback problems
Hi there,
I know there are a lot of threads on the net about slow dvd drives. However, after reading dozens of them it seemed all problems were solved by enabling DMA on the drive.... Well doesn't work for me though I hope any of you can help me. These are my specs: AMD Athlon XP 2700+ 1024 MB RAM GeForce FX5200 (running the corporate nvidia drivers) hdc: LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-851S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive Code:
arrakis:~# uname -a This is my hdparm output: Code:
arrakis:~# hdparm -i /dev/hdc Thnx. |
Can you be more specific, and describe in more detail the problem that you are having? According to the output you've listed, DMA is enabled on /dev/hdc. Maybe I'm missing the point of your question. -- J.W.

Try setting the DVD drive to use ide-scsi module. This may or may not help. Also you can try to use cache in your video player. With hdparm you can try to enable interrupt-unmask and I/O support to 32-bit.
