onboard soundcard not working
 
Hi everybody.
I've just installed ubuntu 5.04 on my asus w3470 notebook and no way to get any sound.

I've installed alsa but when i try alsaconf it says no such command (tried also as root).

alsamixer says

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device

I've never seen such an entry as that, but ALSA only lists one driver for Intel soundchips. Check here and you might try
"modprobe snd-intel8x0;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss"
and see if that gets your modules loaded.
