Question OldWorld G3 -- Please help!!!

I have an "Old World" Macintosh G3 266 Mhz, 4 gib with 256 MB of RAM. I REALLY want to get some distro of linux installed on it, but I have not been able to get past a boot screen, at which time various hangs occur.

PLEASE, Help me if you know how to install ANY distro on an Old World Mac.
