Talking Older Dell laptop w/ Suse 9

First of all, if I am violating the rules of this forum in giving something
away, I am very, very sorry, and I can promise that it won't happen again as
I have one and only one item to give away....

I have, as a project PC, an old laptop on which I installed Suse Linux 9 (I
think, I have more than one copy of Suse). I am moving. I don't want it any
longer. Giving it away seems better to me than the trash heap:

Dell Inspiron 3200
a screaming 233 MHz
Huge 4 Gig drive
10 MHz ethernet card, Cardbus type
state-of-the-art 800 x 600 resolution screen (well, it once was)
Docking station included.

Wait, there's more: the spacebar on the laptop doesn't always work. Nothing
like trying to journal and havingallyourwordsruntogetheristhere? I might
keep this laptop around and install a lighter version of Linux if it weren't
for this hardware flaw.

But the laptop really does function and I am composing this on it. Suse is
the only OS on it, and most of it functions (gave up on sound and WiFi).

OK, so I am about to go find a box to pack this puppy into. I will send it
out, no charge, to whoever when I get back. US shipment only. No promises
that the first will get it. And I am not insuring the li'l beast. This is
most decidedly an as-is giveaway.

Once again, if I am posting this against forum guidelines I am very sorry.
The guidelines explicitly instruct, "no selling" but I am not selling. I am
giving away in toto and assuming shipping costs myself.

The forum rules do not permit advertising. Please visit http://www.linuxquestions.org/advertising/ for more information on advertising. Feel free to contact the forum admin if you have any questions about this policy.

I'm sure you mean well, but unfortunately I will need to close the thread. The basic issue here is simply that if we allow posts that advertise free giveaways for item "X", we would also have to allow posts that advertise free giveaways of item Y, Z, etc, and next thing you know, the forums are full of spam.

My suggestion would be to donate the laptop to a charity, or to post it on a more suitable forum, such as www.craigslist.org Again, I have no doubt that you mean well and I appreciate the generosity but I'm obligated to close the thread -- J.W.
