Old VGA output desktop ..need to connect a VGA LED Moniter by Zorin OS
Hi
I hv a Celeron D 648 MB RAM Intel Chip More i hv to see.. So the problem is my desktop is 10 yeARS old I want to buy a LED panel for it Hv many options like Dell Lg AOC etc But if i see their technical description online i see they mention compatibility OS wise Like compatiblr with Win7 Xp etc No model has Linux mentioned in compatibility So if i run Zorin 9 32bit Lite Then those Dell Lg Samngsung latest panel out their will ve recognised? As their drivers are Window specific Or if i must take chance then which company panel i should take that has max compatibility out their in Linux world. All panels have VGA input option so that not problem But problem is their so called driver which help them to gain max resolution if panel. I.e. VGA output resolution is guided by drivers that come with those panels And all are Windows specific Plz guide me here I am posting link of possible shortlisted panel or their model number for u guys to see Http://m.snapdeal.com/product/lg-19m...d/626794540618 And other similar one shown in this website |
Plug it in and go
I plug in linux laptops older than 10 years old to troubleshoot screens on the laptops not working correctly. I would not worry about it or over think like you do. Before I sold my EEEPC 701SD. I used to use it to stream Hulu Desktop TV to a 52 inch tv screen. Vga To Vga. |
VGA is an IEEE standard format. your 10year old VGA MB should drive any VGA capable modern monitor.
The OS specifics normally refer to special features. |
like the previous posters said, vga is vga and will work.
a word of warning though: a computer that old might run into performance problems when running a monitor with high resolution. also the gpu will maybe not be able to run it in native resolution. |
Your graphic card/chip will decide on your maximum resolution.
(As long as the monitor & your computer have compatible plugs/sockets, any will work.) |
