old scsi cdrom wont boot

i have an acient laptop i would like to install slackware 9.1 on. i cant boot off cd so i am using floppies, but i need to access the cd to install slack of course. i opened the box up and the cd rom is a 50 scsi (bigger than ide).

i dont know much about scsi so i am a little lost. i know there are 3 diferent images to boot with scsi drivers, and a boot disk just for adaptec. how do i konw which disk to use?

Unless you know the type of SCSI controller installed in the laptop try the generic scsi.s boot disk and see what happens.

i tried the scsi.s and it doesnt recognize the cdrom for sure.
should i be able to tell if it is recognized before i load the root disks. i check the log of the boot disk and it doesnt say that the scsi cdrom is recognised (im looking for a /dev/hdx , or /dev/sdX loaded or somthing).

i tries the scsi2 and 3 and the adaptec boot disks, i did not go to the point of install where it asked for the source of the installation ( i was too impatient). what do you guys suggest???
