OK bear with me.
 

I'm in a Linux class at school. We are using Red Hat 7.2. I have Suse 7.3 at home. I like suse and want to keep it. I recently installed my burner from my windows computer into my linux computer. For the life of me I can't figure how to make it work. Or even just so Linux will see it. Right now it doesn't have to burn, I just want to make it mounted. It's on IDE 2 and it's a master i believe but it could be a slave. Any help would be great.

has plenty of useful information on it. If your drive was installed before you added linux it *should* have been auto installed, but it's a little harder afterwards.

that's what i was afraid of. It is that hard to add a cd drive to linux? Thanks for the links. I did try the search and got a few ideas, I'm going to try your links now.

no it's quite quite easy to do, add a line to lilo and reboot, it can just be a little scary doing it if you're not used to it.

would it be easier to reload linux? I have nothing loaded that i need except for aol im. that's easy to install. Then the install will see the 2nd cdrom right? then it's just a matter of setting up software or using the commands to burn... Am I right in thinking this?

definitely no :) ... don't reinstall!

Only a few basic steps, just too many
dependencies on the distro to make
it in 5 sentences. And instead of us
reading, and regurgitating things for you,
why don't you just read? :)
