Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Official Software for peripherals?

Hello,

Are there any hardware manufacturers that offer official software for their peripherals, mice and keyboards?

Please note, and I do not mean to sound rude, I am not looking for community released workarounds or software. I am wondering if there is a hardware maker that actually has a linux version of their official software, such as Razer Synapse or Logitech's Options. (I know these two do not offer official Linux versions)

Thanks much

HP's HPLIP, for their printers and all-in-one office products.

There are so many distros, each with sub-trivial market penetration compared to Windows, that there have been exceedingly few for which support ever made any economic sense (potential for profit). NVidia's graphics drivers are about the only example I can think of.

deleted05 appears to be asking about GUI software for configuring mice and/or keyboards.

They have quoted "Razer Synapse" and "Logitech Options" as examples - an image search for those terms will show what they are asking about.

Previously, when I made the mistake of buying a Razer mouse, rather than use the Windows-only spyware from Razer, I found a community-made Linux tool - it wasn't very good but it worked.

I can understand why deleted05 would not want similar to that - but, since then, community-made efforts have improved and continue to do so. (Though that looks like it's currently Razer-only, and I personally don't intend to give Razer any more money.)

The only thing I'm aware of is that System 76 sell an ugly-looking "Launch" Keyboard which comes with equally ugly Keyboard Configurator software.

If there are other similar examples, it would be good to publicize them so users of Linux-based OSes can support such efforts and maybe encourage others to follow.
