Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

OBD-II real time data

Hi,
I'm into tuning cars, and I was wondering if there was a way I could interface my computer into the OBD-II computer in my car so I can read real-time engine diagnostics. Is there any open source software that can do this with linux, and what kind of hardware does it require to plug into the OBD-II port? Preferably I would like a converter that works with USB, as my laptop does not have a serial port, but if necessary I could get a converter for that.

Thanks,
Marshall

Have you googled lately?

I do not know if linux would detect the B&B devices as a com port as is.
