NVNet won't initialize

Hey, all. I just installed RH9 on a machine that has an onboard NVidia nvnet card. I downloaded and installed the RH9 RPM from NVidia, and didn't have any problems. However, when I use the Internet Connection Wizard, when I try to initialize the card, I get an error message (that the card cannot be initialized).

What's going on here? I've used RH9 with the same card, on the same machine before and never had any problems. Checked modules.conf and it contians alias eth0 nvnet.

Thus, I am guessing it is the new driver. Does that sound accurate?

Thanks,
Dave

Did you try loading the module before running the wizard? I'm no big fan of wizards (hey, I run Linux!) but loading the module manually should prove helpful. Just su to root and type modprobe nvnet and then try again.

OK, I got the driver installed properly now, after using the tar.gz rather than the rpm. But now I am having a new problem: my system runs fine, except whenever anything accesses the Internet the entire system slows down completely. The mouse movement becomes jerky, and everything goes down to a crawl.

I had a similar problem a year or so ago when I tried to run Mandrake 9.1, and I never managed to fix it (ended up installing RH9 then instead, which worked fine).

It is very frustrationg.

Thanks,
Dave
