NVIDIA Video Card Lacks Driver? Compiz Not Going.

Hi, I am trying to run compiz on an older computer, a Dell Dimension pentium 4, with a NVIDIA video card. 512 Kb RAM.

Previously I recall trying Mint 6 on this and it mentioned a need for a driver for the card.

I just checked in admin and it has a proprietary driver, and I also downloaded compiz, and a legacy driver for NVIDIA.

I am using gOS based on Ubuntu. I never used this desk top environment before, like on Mac, the icons are below and enlarge under the mouse pointer.

I have seen compiz in my pentium 4 laptop also a Dell, with 512 Kb RAM.

I used Mint 6 trial off the CD.

I am keen on compiz both for the cool effects, and for the practical use of it in writing documents side by side, while reading documents side by side.

On choosing desktop effects, the computer says cannot enable... something about child function, and, compiz not available file, or something.

What model video card are you using? You have to have one that supports 3D graphics.
