nvidia upgrade gave me huge terminal fonts

I just upgraded to the new nvidia driver. I'm running Slackware 10.0 and x.org. Running X is fine, everything looks great. But when I log out of x (KDE) and into a terminal, my screen is practically unviewable with huge letters. Luckily I remembered the commands to log back into x, and so I am able to post this. Otherwise, I would have to reboot in order to get a readable command-line. Where would I fix this? I'm using Grub, not Lilo.

if you use the frambuffer on the console it might be a compatiblity problem with your nvidia drivers from X when switching back to console. be sure to not boot with the fb device enabled. afaik there is a bootoption for the kernel-comandline to disable it, but as i don't use the fb myself i can't tell you where to switch it off. maybe a look into the kerneldocumentation will give you a hint.

When I boot, I get to see the little penguin logo on the command-line screen. Does that mean I have fb device loaded?
