nVidia SoundStorm driver doesn't work in FC2
I have a ASUS A7N8X-E motherboard with a built-in SoundStorm audio card. When I installed Fedora Core 2, everything got detected correctly and the sound was working.
However, with the default drivers, I could not get my rear audio channels to work, so I decided to use nVidia drivers. After I installed the drivers and followed the instructions to remove any instand of intel-snd in modprobe.conf, I cannot hear sound anymore.
Linux still DETECTS my soundcard, and now I actually have two soundcards detected: one with the old default intel driver and one with the new nVidia driver, however when i play the test sound, it will no longer work with either one of them.
it SEEMS as though everything is working... (and yes, i checked volume controls)
but it's only when i reboot that i get some error with ALSA trying to save sound settings, complaining it can't find a soundcard.
i used lsmod and found that nvsound is loaded,
Module Size Used by
snd_mixer_oss 16000 0
nvsound 1535336 2
snd 43876 1 snd_mixer_oss
soundcore 6752 4 nvsound,snd
...
here's my modprobe.conf
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_sil
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd
alias usb-controller2 ohci-hcd
alias snd-card-0 nvsound

alias eth1 nvnet
can anyone help me plz? thanks!
