nvidia mcp51 high definition audio won't work in Cent OS5


Just as the thread says, I cannot get sound out of my sound card. HP DV2000 lappy. Sound works in XP, vista and ubuntu.

Any ideas?

Recompile ALSA from source. Also see the alsa website ... for hda-intel

Which version should I download of alsa?

I still get errors:

This morning I recompiled alsa on centos using the same tutorial. Don't worry about it. I got the same error. I googled it
and apparently it's a bug. link
I disregarded the error and followed the tutorial till the end. It actually worked on my system.
