nvidia issues in linux


i cant get the nivida drivers to install it says i dont have a kernel interface compiled or something like that and it tries to download one and then it cant do that so it trys to build one and then it says it cant do that what do i need to do? i tried looking on the nvidia site in the readme files but they were of no help to a linux noobie like me

I believe that there are help/readme files with those nvidia drivers. I think you need to read those, and install the kernel sources for the kernel you are using, ie uname -r .

I never did figure out the read me that came with the NVIDIA drivers. It tells you to do something but not how to do it. There are a number of ways to do it but the how to I wrote is easiest for newbies.

I used to watch a little Dr. Who when I was a kid, reruns. Never got into it though. My first name is dale and last starts with k. That's where it came from.

If anybody takes over the world, I would rather it Linus than me. You know the guy that came up with Linux.

Still working on the Mandrake install guide. I guess 9.2 will be out by then.
