Nvidia GeForde FX5500

I am thinking about purchasing this new video card. Has anyone used this with openSUSE 10.3....have there been any known issues with this card and this distro?

That card is not new. It is very old. A GeForce6 or a GeForce7 are better at the same price for an AGP card. A GeForceFX has lower performance compared to GeForce4.

Basically, all nVidia cards works in Linux. SUSE has a proprietary way to install nVidia drivers, so will be harder to install than other distributions. IMHO, Gentoo is the easiest.

If the Nvidia card is supported by opensuse than installing the driver is very esay.
Just ad the opensuse nvidia repositories to the repositories you use and yast take care of every thing
