Unhappy Nvidia Geforce 5500 set up as VESA in Suse 9.1

I have suse 9.1 and I have updated the graphics drivers for my Geforce FX 5500 using YOU and it is not autodetecting my graphics card but instead sets it up as VESA. I have seen this problem before but I have never seen a cure can I get help on this?
Also I am major linux noob.
