Nvidia Geforce 4 driver problem......
:newbie:
I'm a noob to linux, but i do have a lot of experience with computers/windows. I'm using Suse linux 8.1, which i downloaded. I tried to install my Albatron geforce 4 TI-4600. My problem is that I try and install the video card update through yast 2. I get all kinds of error messages, and when i restarted (doing some crap i know was going to f*** up my computer) and it only goes into the console. I hit "startx" and it gives me a problem with the Nvidia driver(not surprising me). So that leaves me with two questions. 1. How do i fix this and get back into the graphic mode of linux? 2. what drivers should i use after i get it fixed? System specs. XP-1700, 2 40g HD, one 8.1 suse linux, and win xp on the other. albatron GF4 TI4600, Audigy sound, Gigabyte GA-7vrxp. Any help would be appreciated! |
You should visit the Nvidia site and download there latest driver rpms. I had Asus 8170 Magic series card whcih is GForce 4 too the only way to get it to work is to get the rpm's from the Nvidia site. Now it works fine
