nVidia Enabling SLi in X11

I have two GeForce 8800 GTS. Both are picked up by lspci. When I start X, I get errors saying that it can't initialize the second card so SLi will be disabled. 3D rendering does work however as I am able to run some 3d games and also run Beryl. I know my mobo is compatable with the cards because 1) they (the GPUs) both work under WinDoze and 2) I had SLi enabled under Debian before I replaced it with Gentoo. I'm using the same proprietary drivers as I was using under Debain. Here's my xorg.conf. I can give my xorg log if need be. Thank in advance, this is really bugging me.

My whole xorg.conf

Go to http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-w.html. If it works under Debian try copying the .config file or zcat /proc/config.gz from it. If you use genkernel, you probably have to re-configure and compile the kernel manually because it may have missed something.

I suggest using /sbin/lspci -tv instead of /sbin/lspci -v to understand the output.

I like putting nvidia's options in the device section instead of the screen section. IMHO, putting nvidia config options in the device section creates less headaches when using different graphics brand.

If you do not mind, post both /var/log/messages and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Please do not truncate or cut the logs to pieces. I would like to see and probably others like to see what is going on from booting up and loading the nvidia module up.

You could try change MultiGPU or SLI options to AFR. It seems that Beryl is still buggy, so SLI might make it worst. The option AddARGBGLXVisuals might help play videos using OpenGL as the output. Also it might help with Beryl.

This is as far I can go.
