I've had my RIVA TNT2 AGP card installed for some time now, and recently found an application that I wanted to run which needed accelerated X drivers, so I installed the NVIDIA drivers from their site (the self-install .run 1.0-4360 one) Everything went fine, and all directions were followed. I got back into X, and it showed the NVIDIA logo and I logged in. I tried my application and appreciated the fast graphics. I'm happy on this end.
BUT, I then loaded up xmms to play some music while I used my application, and there was no sound output whatsoever, even though graphically, I can tell that it is playing the music. When I edit my XF86Config file back to the generic nv driver (rather than the accelerated nvidia driver, the sound is back again. What could I be doing wrong?
Tried a new sound card, but nothing is working still... On the other hand, I was able to play an audio CD in the CD drive, and the sound was fine... I am so confused!
I have this problem too. I have not gotten it to work, but I was curious if your problem became resolved or if it still exists. I do get sound through xmms, mplayer, xine, ..., but not any openGL apps (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, BillardGL, foobillard). I cannot switch back to the nv driver as that defeats the purpose of the card in the first place. Let me know the status of your problem (oh, I am using the same driver version if that helps).
