NVidia drivers installed, but won't load
Hi,
I've installed the latest NVidia linux drivers, with kernel 2.6.6. They installed fine, I used the option -k=2.6.6 and had no problems. I edited the XF86Config file so it loades the driver "nvidia," not "nv." When I start X, the NVidia logo doesn't show up. Also, in the XFree86.0.log file, it says: (II) Module nv: vendor="The XFree86 Project" and "(II) NV: driver for NVIDIA chipsets: RIVA 128, RIVA TNT, RIVA TNT2, Vanta,..." and "(II) NV(0): Initializing int10" among several other "(II) NV(0):" things. So it seems like its not using XF86Config, but in the log it says "(==) Using config file: '/etc/X11/XF86Config.'" I can't seem to figure out why its still using the "nv" driver and not the new "nvidia" driver. Any help is very much appreciated. |
Problem solved, he upgraded with swaret and didnt realize it installed Xorg, so it was the wrong configuration file.
