NVidia Drivers, GForce2 - Half screen problem

I have now installed openSUSE 10.3, and have ran the updates.
With the updates come the Nvidia legacy drivers, which had said previously that they would only work with the new kernel - also included in the same set of downloads.

I've since had to remove these NVidia drivers though. When using them, all of my desktop is squashed into one half of the screen, the NVidia logo, when it appears has the same problem.

I have played with resolutions and frequencies and the Nvidia dock and am stuck. How can I get these drivers to work? I need direct rendering.

Please help.

do you have a kernel compatible with the drivers? if your having trouble with the drivers that come with your distro, try installing the ones off the NVidia site

Thanks for the reply.
When installing the Nvidia drivers I was asked for the new version of the kernel, which I selected to install also so that I could install these drivers (All this I did via YaST updates).
The drivers themselves were from NVidia - Suse adds them as package source if you have Nvidia hardware.

yea but the driver may have gotten damaged in the delivery is all i'm saying, if you get it strait from nvidia then you've got a good bet that they'll be allright
