Nvidia 9300m gs screen flickers text mode

I have a SONY VGN-Z899GSB series notebook, I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 and using the restricted drivers I have used the repository to install 173, 185 and I recently downloaded 190 and installed that too.

All end with the same result, screen flickers in text mode and you can't do a think until you kill gdm. Any thought?

I have the same problem, I also tried the new 190.42 as well and it did the same thing my specs are as follows:

Sony VGN-Z610YB
GPU's are: 9300M GS + Intel 4500MHD

It would be nice if I could get this working..
