nvidia 6600GT tv-out (newbie)
Hi
I've been trying find a howto of anykind, to get tv-out working on my nv 6600GT card.
My distro is SuSe 10.0 eval x86_64 with KDE as window manager.
I've downloaded the drivers from Nvidia:s site and tried to follow the instructions.
I got the driver installed (i think) and 3D support on, but have no idea, how to enable/setup the tv-out.
'lspci | grep VGA' gives me: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600 GT] (rev a2)
i think i should make some changes to /etc/X11/xorg.conf , but don't know exactly what.
I'm in Finland, so i think the mode should be PAL-B for the tv.(?)
Any suggestions.
This is pretty much the last thing i need working in linux and i'll be ready to switch to Linux completely.
Thank you in advance.
/Beekley

I'm not sure which of the 64 bit driver packages you installed. I found that the AMD_64 documentation at nvidia.com doesn't mention the tv-out. The IA64 documentation does talk about the tv-out supported chips. It doesn't look like the 6600 is included.
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li....0-5336/README
You could look further at the nvidia.com driver documentation. I think that you are not going to be happy with the results.
You really have to do a lot of research before purchasing hardware to run on a Linux system. Make sure that the hardware and software will do everything that you want to do before you purchase anything. This is particularly true of high performance or specialty components or components that use their own proprietary drivers.

Well, when i installed SuSe, during the installation there was picture on my TV, but it was probably giving out the same resolution as the screen in KDE and looked 'overlaced' and scrambled.
Also during boot the TV screen shows picture just ok, until the graphical login.
nvtv gives me 'No supported video card found.'
So any idea, what could be happening here?
Cheers

Now i think i got somewhere.
I added the following lines to /etc/X11/xorg.conf :
Section "Device"
.
.
.
.
Option "TVStandard" "PAL-B"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "RenderAccel" "True"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT"
and when i rebooted, the picture went to my TV and everything looked ok, even tried a movie and everything is ok, except... there's no picture on my monitor anymore!!
So that probably means that i will be able to get them working, but now i need some option to get them working together.
Thanks

Well after "CRT TV" it only leaves monitor on, TV goes blank.
Maybe i should post my xorg.conf i might be missing something.
here goes:
