nvidia 3d driver on debian sarge

hi, I've been trying to install the nvidia 3d drivers with no success on my debian sarge.
First I directly tried to install them as I did in every distro I used befor: just runnin the NVIDIA...1.0-xxxx.run, but didn't wor, then I installed my kernel headers (2.6.8-2-smp) and it said the files in build were not configured and I configured them, and had the message that it couldn't load nvidia.ko probably because the kernel headers were not my kernel's (and I'm pretty sure they are, is a very particular kernel to make a mistake mistake).
If anyone succesfully installed this drivers, give a hint here
Thanx

I got it working on my box by following these instructions.

no to nvidia binary driver

I used to install a different way. Download the kernel source, compiled it after falko timme kernel compilation howto. Then I download the binary driver from www.nvidia.com, placed in / directory, used chmod u+x on the downloaded file, and run it. After that I followed the instructions that are found on the manufacturers page. But at least for Nvidia Geforce2 I managed to get X11 work with binary driver only on linux 2.4 kernel this way (at least was not lucky finding a solution on 2.6 kernel). Could be, my card is not fully supported anymore, so down with the binary drivers. I do not need the 3d screen savers and do not play games too much anyway. If you want the cool features, nvidia binary drivers offer, simply use kernel 2.4 if you have a GeForce2 card.
