I'm trying to install Ubuntu 15.04 on a functioning Windows machine. When I boot off the installation DVD, the screen clears purple, and then it clears black and I get something like

and then after that I get a series of messages that say something like

The last ones gives a WRITE fault instead of a read fault. Most of the messages say "READ of 0x000000" rather than giving a nonzero address. After displaying about 15 of these messages, it pauses briefly, and then reboots, and cycles indefinitely through the above sequence.
This machine has an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/40000 SDI according to Windows.
Anybody have any idea what this means?
