nothing in /proc/pci and not finding devices

I have a problem with my system. It is using a PC CHIPS 841 motherboard, netgear FA311 network card, onboard video, sound etc.

I need to get Linux 8 installed but it refuses to even find my pci devices. The proc/pci "file" is empty when i do cat /proc/pci.

HELP!!!!
