Not another SATA150 TX4 thread

Hello folks, I've been checking around searching for info on this
controller card (linuxmafia...etc), but found no answer to the
following question:

I have 4x 250GB SATA HDDs and a SATA150 TX4 controller card.

If I try 'modprobe sata_promise' the system recognizes the card &
the disks --> which is cool

But if I try to add a line on the modprobe.conf file to load the module
during the startup...nothing happens...the module doesn't get loaded
at all.

Here's what I have on my modprobe.conf file:
######################################################################
alias scsi_hostadapter sbp2
options sbp2 serialize_io=1
alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394
install sata_promise { /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install sata_promise ; }
alias snd-card-0 snd-ens1371
install snd-ens1371 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-ens1371 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove snd-ens1371 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-ens1371
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd
alias eth0 e1000
install pwc /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install pwc && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove pwc { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove pwc
alias char-major-195* nvidia
######################################################################

I've also tried with 'alias scsi_hostadapter sata_promise' but no luck --> this meant I also changed line1 of the above configuration to 'alias scsi_hostadapter2 sbp2'

I've checked the logs but found no info related to this module. What can I do to solve this?

I also have another question: Is it possible to assign a fix '/dev/sd*' to a sata/ieee1394
device? Something like: "No matter how many times i connect/disconnect it , the system
will always assign '/dev/sdb1' to my 500GB LaCie hard drive"

Thx in advance!
