http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/mic...rnalId=1003661 Core2 Duo isn't on the HCL. Since ESX is a commercial product, have you called VMWare for support? |
Hi TBOne,
Thanks for reply .I got the solution .I had to disable 2 things in Bios to make it work ESX server in my pc. 1.In main , " SW single processor mode " Disable (By default enable) 2.In Advanced boot configuration ,"Max cpu ID Value limit" Disable By default , This option are enable in my Pc .Once disabled , Esx server worked fine both in Vmware and PC directly.Any processor with VT enable with morethan 2GB ram is sufficient to install ESX server 5.0 & 4.x series. Thanks for post |
Hi call_krushna,
I also have the same problem, please help me... I have intel core 2 duo processor, 4 GB ram, and the both options, In main , " SW single processor mode " and In Advanced boot configuration ,"Max cpu ID Value limit" both I have set to Disable only. I have enabled VT technology in bios also. But still I am not able to install esx 3.5 in vmware workstation 8.0.1. While creating new virtual machine, I am selecting vmware esx(I have esx 5 or esxi/esx4 options available). Immediately below I get a message as 64 bit guest OS are not supported by this host and will not run. I have: Core2 duo processor @2.70 GHz 4 GB Ram Enabled VT in Bios and In main , " SW single processor mode " and In Advanced boot configuration ,"Max cpu ID Value limit" both I have set to Disable only. Please help... Thanks, chaitanya. |

#uname -m Out put should "x86_64" .If the output is like i686 or i386 ,then your OS is 32 bit. check the log file /var/log/message if u found any info regarding installation , just post it. |
