Do your get to grub? If not, then you need to install grub on your hard drive.
Else: try adding entry in grub.conf

Do you get the Grub screen when your pendrive is not attached or only when it is attached? I would agree with yooy that you do not have Grub installed to your internal hard drive. I would suggest you boot with the pen drive, open a terminal, log in as root and run the command: fdisk -l (Lower case Letter L) and post this partition information so you can get more specific instructions on installing Grub to the mbr.
