Noob question - USB2 Ext Drives
I would like to attach an external USB2 300GB hard drive to one of our servers that runs Fedora Core 5. This is mainly so that I can run rsync on it and get a backup of the Linux filesystem. I need to have a backup that I can restore from for this server.
Is this the best way to get a nightly backup going? If so, how do I mount a removable drive on Fedora? What should I see it as in the devices? Thanks Myles |
In FC5, when you plug the device in, it will just automagically appear on your desktop. It will appears as a SCSI disk (/dev/sdXN).
External USB/IEEE1394 drives are a great way to backup, and using rsync is the right tool. :) |
