Non-RedHat Linux for Supermicro 6010h

I was wondering what Linux I could run besides Red Hat that would take full advantage of a Supermicro 6010h with dual 1.1 GHz pIII and 4 gigs of ram.

Thanks in advance

"dual 1.1 GHz pIII and 4 gigs of ram."

Any distribution should work as long as they supply a kernel with SMP support compiled in. Or you could install a distribution that you like and then compile the kernel to suit your taste.

Thanks jailbait

Can you suggest a Linux distro with smp support out of the box? Non-Red Hat, been goggling and haven't had much luck finding one.

Thanks

"Can you suggest a Linux distro with smp support out of the box?"

Unfortunately I don't know of any. Here is SuSE's explanation of how to compile a SuSE kernel with SMP support.

http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/1997/07/maddin_smp.html

As far as kernel compiles go it is fairly easy. However if you have never compiled a kernel the first time is always rough.

I also tried a few googles and found no Linux distro with smp support out of the box.
