Unhappy No WiFi w/ Broadcom card and Meego 1.2

Hey guys,

The Meego forums are kinda dead these days so I figured you guys might be able to help me out.

I recently bought a new netbook (Gateway LT4008U) and have been playing around with various Linux OS distributions. Because of the Intel GMA 3600 graphics, Ubuntu didn't work too well. I came across Meego and absolutely love it. However, the issue with Meego is that it doesn't support my Broadcom wireless card. There are several documented workarounds to install the drivers for older versions of Meego but because of my Intel Atom N2600 in my netbook, I'm forced into a newer version of Meego. I'm using 3.0.0-13.1-adapation-pc and have gotten absolutely nowhere getting the Broadcom drivers loaded. I get the typical "make: *** /lib/modules/3.0.0-13.1-adaptation-pc/build: No such file or directory. Stop." error every time I try to load them.

This is the most common way to load Broadcom WiFi drivers in Meego 1.2
http://slaine.org/_slaine/Meego_1.2_Wifi.html

When I try this process, I get to step 7 and it gives me the "make: *** /lib/modules/3.0.0-13.1-adaptation-pc/build: No such file or directory. Stop.".

Any ideas? Happy to post any information you guys need!

Hi,

I'm not familiar with meego, but typically /lib/modules/<kernel-version>/build would be provided by the the kernel-headers (or linux-headers) package corresponding to the the kernel version "<kernel-version>". The instructions you link to don't explicitly say to install any kernel-headers/linux-headers package. Perhaps that is what you are missing.

HTH,

Evo2.

/lib/modules/<kernel-version> is usually a symlink to the kernel source, if you have the source installed. You need to install a kernel source tree.

I used the directions here
http://www.linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43
Which uses the existing kernel modules, and never looked back. You do need firmware, but the page explains how to get that.

Finally figured out the issue. The kernel-devel I was downloading wasn't the current version so it kept breaking the build.

Thanks guys!
