No USB-Stick under Damn Small Linux on Acer Aspire

The title says it: The USB Port of my Acer Aspire 1360 does not see my no-name USB-Stick when I boot with the Damn Small Linux Live-CD.
I tried to mount it as sdx (whereas x is a to d) and sdx1, also with and without the options -t and vfat.
fdisk -l only shows my harddisks and dmesg does not show sth. unusual except for an IRQ-rooting conflict between the IRQs 10 and 11.
When I boot DSL (2.0) I get the message "can't locate module block-major-2" twice while detecting hardware.
Also I tried my mp3-player-stick and that did not work either. However, both sticks work on some other systems: The 1GB-Stick on knoppix 3.8, XFLD and kanotix , the mp3-player only on the latter two and sometimes on knoppix. All tests were made on the laptop, so I could imagine it is a problem with the machine.
I scanned the internet on quick help; none was found. I even bothered the (really nice) guys in the kanotix-channel also, they could not help me.
Please remember that it is a live-cd, so read-only.
You are my last resort here...
Any suggestions?

this is a laptop eh....

if you are getting IRQ conflicts you might want to try booting using the following boot time option(when the dsl penguin appears and you can press F2 & F3 to view boot option):

dsl acpi=off

also i would suggest trying version 2.1 or 2.2 (2.1 actually has a later kernel version than 2.2)

also, does the "lsusb" command work? and i am sure one of the dsl modules is a usb view of some sort.... (my dsl)

dsl acpi=off did not make a difference.
I cannot test newer version, but I doubt that it would help since one of the sticks (1GB) did not work under kanotix (I am actually wrong with what I wrote before, I just checked it). And that kanotix version had kernel 2.6.? .
lsusb resulted in three of the four ports giving me
bus 00x device 00x: id0000:0000 (whereas x is for 1-3)
about the dsl-tools: i am not sure what you meant. If you meant the DSL-panel: I did not find sth. for USB/devices.
Any further suggestions?

I just looked up the dmesg again. It seems that the USB port and some other devices (soundcard for example) try to use the IRQ 11. They then have to share IRQ 11 (and 10?).
Could that be a cause for the problem?
Also I seem to have problems with my sound: Under skype I seem to cause noises for everyone in the conference. Maybe that helps...
