The magic has happened After rebooting again, it automatically loaded usb core and usb uhci modules. These 2 are showing up in lsmod. I am able to mount my flash drive but only with root login

Thanks a lot to you guys. It worked only after disabling plug n play OS in Bios. Thanks to michaelk for the link.

Mounting a flash drive is no different then any other vfat partition.
You will need to add an entry to the /etc/fstab file for the flash drive. The user option allows non root users to mount / umount and umask=000 allows any user to read / write. See man pages for mount and fstab for details

Mounting a vfat partition is probably one of the most asked questions on the forum and the answer can be found with single search.
