No supported PnP or PCI card found...

HI all !

I installed gentoo ok, and even sound works... but accidently I crash it and then reinstalled.
From the previous installation the only thing left is kernel
( compiled with Via Technologies PCI sound card support (as modules) )
But after I install alsa-utils second time, and run

> alsaconf

I get the following error:

No supported PnP or PCI card found...

What the f.. ?

But It previuosly workk ok ... and it is the same kernel !!!
Whats wrong here ?
Please Help !!

Is it listed in the output when you run

lspci -l

also check lsmod to see if the module is loaded (or look in /etc/modules)
