No such device after short time (USB External)

I have a USB External.
It was GPT.
I opened GParted.
Created an MS-DOS Partition table.
Created an NTFS Primary Partition.
Started to write some stuff.
I/O Error occurred.
I wanted to format the partition.
I couldn't.
Now, whenever I want to format it or create another partition table, either it says no such device after some time, or doesn't see it.
Now, when I start the operating system seeing this drive, by which command, I can make it seeable again (creating a new partition table, formatting it, erasing it, whatever it takes).
I hope I could explain.
When the drive is connected live USB is giving errors, when I disconnect it; it is able to start.
When the drive is connected, it waits to start the OS also. When I disconnect it; OS Starts!
In Windows, it sees it; but whenever properties or disk management is opened, it gets stuck.
I just need to 'reset' the drive somehow.

Is it a passport hdd? It has software on it & you'll have to download & run the repair tool but you may have to run it from windows or mac computer.
Also the preloaded software that was on the drive does the formatting for you, so I assume that your first run was on a mac.

It is not a passport, but it is WD. I had erased the software inside in it when I converted it to gpt.(I still have the software somewhere. I was able to create MS-DOS Partition Table on it, and created NTFS from Windows. Trying to copy now. I hope it goes ok.

The software actually doesn't get read by linux machine so if you have to redo it it does no harm in linux. You can go to WD & download it by make & model of the drive for free.

Thank you so much for this advice.
I haven't thought of this before.

You're welcome
Good Luck!

I need to reset this drive.
It is somehow corrupted.
When I try to boot from a live usb, it says no caching mode, assuming write through.
How can I fix this drive?
I don't need to save any data or anything.
I just need it to work correctly.

The problem is it is always giving errors when trying to format or create a partition table.
It worked a little bit today, but then it gave the i/o error again.

You may lose data but the tools r available to you.

The drive is still having problems.
Whenever I want to do something with the drive, it disappears.
I can't do dd, clonezilla, gparted or anything even though it sees the drive at first.
