I have seen the issue before in searches and either I have tried the answer without success or the answers were written in a way I could not understand.

Per a search for similar issue but not exactly the same hardware
I have tried installing sof-firmware. It shows up in my downloads but I am not sure that I it's actually installed. When I search I get the following:

[michael@fedora /]$ sudo find . -name *sof-firmware*
[sudo] password for michael:
./home/michael/Downloads/alsa-sof-firmware-2.2.4-3.fc38.src.rpm
find: ‘./run/user/1000/doc’: Permission denied
find: ‘./run/user/1000/gvfs’: Permission denied
./usr/share/doc/alsa-sof-firmware
./usr/share/licenses/alsa-sof-firmware
[michael@fedora /]$

If I use the gui (gnome files) to try and open the downloaded file it opens software manager but nothing happens. Not sure what I might be doing wrong.

----------------------------------------------------

per a search with a similar issue but different hardware:

I added a file to /etc/modprobe.d called alsa-base.conf with the following line:
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-6ch

-------------------------------------------------------
I did not post results of lshw because results are too long to post.

Everything else seems to be working fine.

How are you configured re https://discussion.fedoraproject.org...edora-37/64025 ? Having pipewire-pulse enabled seems to work better than pulseaudio on my recent Intel CPU PCs outputting sound via HDMI or DisplayPort to display speakers.

This is from a Kaby Lake using analog output:
