Angry No sound. Sound card: Intel 82801G using a Conexant codec

Ok, I have Fedora 7 loaded on a Toshiba Satellite P100 (no exact model#-custom built) laptop with a x86_64 Core2 Duo T7200 processor and my sound card is Intel 82801G using a Conexant codec. Problem, no sound. I have unmuted everything. I have loaded the latest alsa dirvers (1.0.14). I have tried adding "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack" to my modprob.conf as many have suggested. I also tried Ubuntu 5.1 and Sabayon 3.3 and also had no sound. I think that I may have to rewrite / reload my DSDT file as per the following link (http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Toshiba_Satellite_P100) that claims my Conexant codec is not currently supported but I was hoping that someone might know an easier fix before I jump into this very complicated work-around.

----Quote from the above link--------------------------------
Bug: Kernels version 2.6.19 and lower and alsa-driver releases 1.0.13 and lower do not support the Conexant codec used in these notebooks
The Conexant codec used by these notebooks is not supported by the version of alsa in the kernel (as of kernel 2.6.19) or the 1.0.13 alsa-driver release. There is a work in progress and possibly unstable patch under development - [[4]]. This patch has been included in the alsa development repository and was tested as working with a Satellite P100 PSPA6A-01JO17 on 26th November, 2006.
----end quote-----------------------------------------------

And this link (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=122145) explains the procedure to build, load, and run a custom DSDT. I am not looking forward to trying this at all....someone please tell me it's not my DSDT and offer me an easier fix! PLEASE. I just want sound and I am willing to make sacrifices for an easier fix.

Thanks,

When I build this I get a string of errors. I am going to try one more time when I get home in about an hour. I don't know if this very old driver is compatable with my very new computer but let me try once more. Did you find this fix on a know bug list or is it just a hunch?

Ok, I have compiled your driver and tried to install it again. Every time I reboot it still says that I still have the current version. I am new to Linux...is there something special that has to be done to roll back the driver to a previous version? It gives a lot of errors when I run the make command. The modprobe commands to insert the modules into the kernel give no errors but I think they are just reinserting my 1.0.14 drivers.

FIXED !! At a small cost....

I posted this problem on two forums and found that at this time a total fix for Toshiba users is only available by custom building your own DSDT but if you are willing to sacrifice your power management functions (and I was) then you just boot with "acpi=off irqpol" in your boot command line (boot/grum/menu.lst and add the line to the end of your kernel line).

Sound is perfect now!! When a better fix is in place (being worked on as we speak) then I can simply 'undo' and have my power management options back. Too easy.

A BIG THANKS TO GRUEMASTER @ BUGZILLA.REDHAT
