No sound! SB Audigy by creative

Hello everyone. I just installed Fedora Core 4 and sound isn't working at all! I went to desktop, system settings, then went into sound detection and i get a box that shows:
The following audio device was detected:
Vendor: Creative
Model: Labs SB Audigy
modeul: snd-emu10k1

but when i click play test sound, no sound comes up, and yes my volume is up. Any ideas how i can get it working? I'm new to linux!

IIRC make sure that when using alsamixer from the command line as your user that the front, surround and center channels have the volume raised and I believe you need the analog mixer raised as well.

The alsamixer should be included with the ALSA sound system you are using right now to try to get sound. I needed to run the alsamixer program and raise those settings to get any sound from the card when you run the program make sure that the master and pcm channels are set at about 75% as well. When you are done setting the levels use the ESC key to exit and save the settings then try your sound.
