No sound on mandrake 2005 le

i'm a linux newbie, but since i installed mandrake 2005 Le i don't go often on windows cause i think linux i much better.

I have a problem. the only thing that doesn't work is the sound. I have a good old sound blaster pci which is working great under windows. when i trie to read a song or listen to a video i get the folowing message :

Sound server informational message

Error while initializing the sound driver

device /dev/dsp can't be opened (no such file or directory )

the sound server will continue using the null output device

Then i get no sound. I don't think it is a driver problem. alsaconf detect my soundcard and says it is configured properly. I think the problem comme from a missing link between the soud driver and the /dev/dsp folder.

can someone help me ?
