no sound in RH 8.0

Ok, that's a nice pretty screen shot of your error when running the soundconfig utility, but that still doesn't really help us.
What kind of sound card do you have ?? Most likely the module its trying to load isn't found or is corrupt it seems !

My sound card is via8233 .. RH 8.0 detects the correct card but no

OSS

I had some problems with my sound too, this is what i did.

I downloaded OSS from http://www.opensound.com

I ran the install in my terminal, and voila SOUND.

Maybe you can try it? I dunno if it will work for you because
i had a different problem, but at least you can try it!

I got the same problem than you. I'm running RH 9 and no sound till I went www.opensound.com and installed oss.
Now sound is working great. Perhaps it's not the same than alsa but it works good enough for me.

Try this to check if the module has been installed/loaded:

go to c.l and type: lmsod | grep soundcore

i tired alsa which worked really well.

www.alsa-project.org
dl the specified driver and follow instructions.

i have the same prob 2

but i dont know what 2 do with the alsa drivers:
which folder 2 put them in,
how to run them

can some one send an faq on how to use alsa because i am a total
