Angry no sound in games

I have a soundblaster live 5.1 sound card. I installed Suse 8.2 and having all kinds of sound problems. When I try to run a game, I get an error message like " cannot initialize sound or can't find sound server". I believe that another program is using my sound card. How can I find out what program and how to stop it. I can play audio cds with no problems. All of the sound effects in KDE sound terrible.

Thanks,

Darwin

I could try that. What way would be the best way to do
that. I can go into KDE control center and uncheck the
box to start the arts sound server on startup. Is there
a command also? If I check the system monitor would it
display as "arts" and I could turn it off that way?

Thanks,

Darwin
