Hi,

I just alsa driver 1.0.3 on a dell dimension 4600 machine running RH 9.0.

The integrated sound card was detected and the sound system seems to work just find.

However, I can't get any sound out of the DVD drive. When I tried to play a CD, it appears that the CD is playing, just no sound.

I have tried alsamixer and the setting seems to be ok. Don't know what I missed.

Have anyone run into this before?

Just to clarify, you haven't heard any sound, or only when playing a CD on that particular drive? The easy fix for these problems seems to be the volume. It's probably not that simple. If you haven't heard any sound on the system, try typing 'lsmod' (without inverted commas) in your terminal. About halfway down the long list there are some lines relating to sound. Could you post them?

Well, I did hear sound from the system. Just not from a CD. The volume is turned to the max for all channels.
